A birth ball offers you the perfect support during the entire birth process. Because you can easily adopt different postures, you can instinctively move to a posture that feels comfortable to you (and that you can maintain for a long time). This way you make room for your child to sink down. The ball offers relaxation because you can hang on it, helping your body to produce the hormones oxytocin and endorphins. (Endorphins are a powerful and natural pain reliever and oxytocin causes contractions and promotes labour). This is how you choose the right size
At Aveta we sell birth balls with dimensions of 55, 65 cm and 75 cm:
- Diameter 55 cm: for women of about 1.55 - 1.65 meters
- Diameter 65 cm: for women of about 1.65 – 1.75 meters
- Diameter 75 cm: for women of about 1.75 - 1.85 meters
Do you want to make sure you're in the right place? Then pay attention to the following: when you are sitting on the ball, with your feet flat on the floor, your hips should be about 10 cm above your knees. This elevated sitting position brings the baby's weight forward, relieving back pain and other complaints. This position is also comfortable during labour. It keeps your pelvis open and supports your lower back while absorbing the contractions. For a comfortable position, do not inflate the birth ball to the maximum, so you can sink into the ball a bit.
